• Namafjall

A geothermal field on the east side of Lake Myvatn known for its solfataras and boiling mud pots, steam vents, and sulfur crystals of various colors. A narrow hiking trail leads from the parking lot around the area and up to Namaskaro pass, a geothermal area connected to the Krafla volcano system, presenting numerous small colored sulfurous hot pools and steam vents. At the foothills of Namafjall mountain walk through Hverir, a hot springs field with boiling fumaroles, mud pools and mud pots. Namafjall and Namaskard are 5 km east of Lake Myvatn northern tip on the Ring Road.
