• Mirabell Palace and Gardens

Schloss Mirabell was built in the 17th century as pleasure palace for the Prince-Archbishop Wolf Dietrich north of the old city. The palace is currently used by the city′s administration and the mayor of Salzburg. Renovated in a Baroque style in the 18th century, and in Neoclassical style in the 19th century, enjoy the Baroque Marble Hall considered one of the most beautiful concert halls in the world, with its rich decorations, statues, and golden stucco works.
Admire the Baroque Donnerstiege stairway, with its excessive marble, sculptures and artworks, and the beautiful Mirabell gardens laid out in the 17th century which are what the palace is famous for. The gardens beautiful geometric layout, mythology themed marble sculptures, and the fountains, are a perfect place for leisure stroll.
Also in the gardens, an open air theater and a beautiful Greenhouse, home to the Schloss Mirabell Baroque Museum and its collection of 17th and 18th century artworks. The gardens are one of the most popular tourist attractions in Salzburg, where several scenes from The Sound of Music were filmed.
