• Mergentheim Palace

The Deutschordenschloss von Mergentheim, was originally built in the 13th century and it is in Bad Mergentheim, in the Tauber Valley, 44 km south of Wurzburg and 41 km northwest of Rothenburg. The palace was the residence of the Grand Master of the Teutonic Order and headquarters of the Order in the 16th -19th centuries.
The current Renaissance palace complex includes inner residential quarters and courtyard, the 18th century Baroque palace church with the beautiful ceiling fresco, the German Teutonic Order history museum, and the beautiful surrounding English Gardens landscapes. The palace museum includes displays related to the life and work of the German Teutonic order, the towns history, the local Jewish history, a collection of dollhouses, a collection of antiquities, and more.
