• Lumphini Park

Lumphini Park is in the heart of the city between the Silom and Sukhumvit business districts, named after the birthplace of the Buddha in present-day Nepal.
Bangkok’s premier public park is centered on an artificial lake where paddle and rowing boats can be hired, and is surrounded by tree-lined paths, open lawns, outdoor exercise facilities, and a small outdoor gym. In early morning locals of all ages gather in the park for tai chi, aerobics, jogging, and outdoor yoga before the heat of the day sets in. The park’s resident population of large water lizards, some two meters long, is fascinating as these prehistoric-looking creatures wander freely through the park and along the lake banks. In the early evening, the park is filled again with exercisers and families, with an outdoor stage hosts free music performances on weekends. The park is easily reached by the MRT to Lumphini or Silom stations.
