• Lipari

The biggest and most populous island has a good tourism infrastructure including a bus service throughout the island, and it is often used as an exit base to the other islands.

The island’s main town, Lipari, is the commercial capital of the Aeolians, with its Corso Vittorio Emanuele, lined with bars, cafes, and restaurants.

Stroll the charming narrow alleys and visit the lively harbor of Marina Corta. Highly recommended is the Museo Eoliano, an impressive archaeological museum near the Duomo, with an impressive collection of local artefacts from the Bronze Age to the Roman era, ancient shipwrecks, and the biggest collection of mini ancient Greek theater masks in the world.

There are few beautiful hiking trails in Lipary.
The coastal trail between the Terme di San Calogero and the kaolin quarry at Bagnosecco, is known for its surface of the white kaolin stained with various colors by emissions from the steaming sulfurous fumaroles.

The island’s coastline is rugged, rocky, and undeveloped, offering amazing scenery.
Being generally inaccessible by car, you can walk to the coast at Valle Muria, where you can enjoy the beach of Spiaggia Valle Muria, or at Punta delle Fontanelle to enjoy Spiaggia di Canneto beach. This beach is a long, pebble beach, the most popular in the island, 3 km north of Lip

ari Town. In summer, Boats to the beaches are available from the Lipari port.

Highly recommended is Quattrocchi  (Four Eyes) viewpoint, 3 km west of Lipari town, off the road to Pianoconte, where you will admire high cliffs falling into the sea with great views of the Mediterranean and the nearby smoking Vulcano island.
