A major town and island on the southeastern shore of Lake Constance in Bavaria, near the borders of Austria and Switzerland and within walking distance from the Austrian town of Bregenz.
Lindau’s picturesque and charming old town is located on a small island connected to the mainland by a road bridge and a railway. This highly popular small old town offers beautiful Medieval architecture, vibrant squares and picturesque cobbled alleys.

  • Visit the beautiful Lindenhofpark park, the Maximilianstraße avenue with its numerous cafes, restaurants, and small shops, and the old harbor with its magnificent entrance of the Bavarian Lion sculpture, a lighthouse and a charming harbor promenade.
  • Stroll the city park and gardens, relax in a secluded lake bay, or have bear sitting in the harbor promenade while enjoying the amazing panoramic landscapes of Austria, Switzerland, and the Alps.
  • Visit the Lindau Museum with its alternating exhibitions of modern arts, or enjoy a puppet show at the Lindau puppet opera, the Marionettenoper, with its more than 400 dancing puppets.
  • Enjoy outdoor activities including cycling, swimming, water sports and much more. Take a boat cruise on the lake, hike or cycle to the Austrian town of Bergenz, and climb the Pfander mountain for great landscapes and in site attractions.

Visit Lindau for at least 1/2 – 1 day, preferably in the Spring-Autumn seasons.
