• Lake Starnberg

Also known as Lake Würm, Würmsee, Fürstensee, Germany’s second largest fresh water lake, 27 km southwest of Munich, and a popular recreation area of Germany’s rich and famous. Surrounding the lake are hilly landscape, lakes and the Alpine Mountain ranges in the south. The villages and towns on the lake’s shoreline are among the most exclusive residential areas in the Munich area, connected via the lake’s public ferry service and touring ships.
When in the lake area enjoy numerous hiking and cycling trails, including a beautiful 50 km trail along the lake’s circumference, swimming, sailing and rowing. Take a boat trip or rent a boat for your own pleasure on the lake. The lake beaches are close to the train stations in Tutzing, Possenhofen and Feldafing. Take a boat to the small and romantic Rose Island near the west bank, 7 km south of Starnberg, home to beautiful parks and gardens.
