• Kouros of Apollonas

An unfinished 11 meters long 7th century BC kouros statue in an ancient quarry along the road, 36 km from Naxos and before the fishing village of Apollonas. Unlike the Kouros statues near Melanes, here the statue face shows indications of beard, eyes and nose, but the body elements are still in initial stage. It seems that this statue had also structural damages and was abandoned.
