• Koh Samui Big Buddha

Wat Phra Yai, The Big Buddha, is a 12 meters high golden statue positioned on a small rocky island connected to Koh Samui northeastern coast, 3 km from Bophut, and 10 km from Chaweng.
The Statue is the island’s iconic religious and cultural monument, and it is accessible by climbing a dragon-flanked stairs leading from ground level to the viewing platform surrounding the statue’s base. The statue is part of a temple complex, Wat Phra Yai, that includes smaller Buddha statues, shrine areas and monk quarters.
The statue is best visited in the morning, at sunrise, or late afternoon. The Big Buddha is located near Bangrak Beach offering seafood restaurants, and near the Fisherman’s Village at the Bophut Beach.
