• Koh Nang Yuan

Koh Nang Yuan consists of three small rocky islands connected by curved white sand sandbars that appear and expand during low tide. The connecting sandbars are beautiful surrounded by shallow turquoise water and are the widest at low tide and partially submerged at high tide.
The islands which offer excellent snorkeling are one of Thailand’s most distinctive and photographed natural features.
Swimming in the protected bays is excellent with calm, clear water ideal for families and children. The beaches are small and crowded during peak season and at peak day-trip periods.
Koh Nang Yuan offers Koh Tao’s best shore-accessible snorkeling. The coral reefs surrounding the islands are healthy and include colorful hard and soft corals, abundant reef fish, blue-spotted stingrays, and occasional turtle sightings. The great Japanese Gardens site between the islands is accessible by 5 minute swimming from the beach.
The Nang Yuan Viewpoint on the southern island offers magnificent scenery looking down on the three connected islands and the turquoise water surrounding the sandbars. The iconic image appears on every Koh Tao tourism promotion. The viewpoint is accessed via rocky trail from the beach and steep 10-15 minute climb up stairs. Arrive early morning to beat the crowds and heat.
The islands are privately owned by the resort occupying the main island, but day visitors can access them while paying entrance fee. On the islands a restaurant serving Thai food and drinks, basic facilities, beach chairs and umbrellas, and snorkeling equipment rental.  Reach the small islands by a 10 minute boat ride from Mae Haad pier or from Sairee Beach.
Spend half a day visiting the viewpoint, snorkeling and enjoying the beach or full day including diving.
