• Koh Lanta Beaches

The island’s nine main beaches are along the 20 km western coast, each with different character and development level. The Beaches are listed from north, closest to arrival pier, to the remote south:

  • Klong Dao Beach
The northernmost main beach, 3 km long, backed by mid-range to upscale resorts. The beach is Lanta’s most developed and family-oriented, with calm shallow waters perfect for children, numerous restaurants, and resort facilities including swimming pools and kids’ clubs.
  • Phra Ae Beach
Koh Lanta’s longest and most popular beach, typically called Long Beach. It’s a lively 4 km long sandy beach with the highest concentration of accommodation, from backpacker bungalows to boutique resorts. Enjoy restaurants, bars, and services, all with an active social scene, yet relaxed.
  • Klong Khong Beach
An alternative, bohemian beach south of Long Beach, attracting long-term travelers, yogis, and the conscious/spiritual travel community, while offering relaxed, alternative vibe. Accommodation is for budget tourists with beach bungalows, yoga retreats, atmospheric bamboo restaurants and bars.
  • Klong Nin Beach
A beautiful 2 km long crescent bay great for swimming, scattered resorts and peaceful character. The beach is for those looking for a beautiful beach with some facilities but with a slower pace than Long Beach.
  • Kantiang Bay
One of Koh Lanta’s most beautiful beaches, it’s a pristine horseshoe bay backed by forested hills, offering excellent swimming in clear water, upscale resorts and a tranquil, exclusive atmosphere. Kantiang Bay is ideal for couples seeking romance and privacy, with minimal crowd.
  • Bamboo Beach and the Southern Beaches
The beaches south of Kantiang Bay become progressively emptier where Bamboo Beach is the most accessible of the far southern beaches, offering near-deserted white sand beach backed by jungle and requiring sturdy motorbike or 4WD to reach. These southern areas appeal to adventurous travelers seeking completely undeveloped beach experiences.
