• Khao Sok National Park

The Khao Sok National Park is covered by ancient forest with a canopy more than 50 meters high, massive dipterocarp trees, strangler figs, lianas, and more, making the jungle so thick that visibility is very limited. The park is 160 km northeast of Phuket Town.
In the park the stunning Cheow Lan Lake, dramatic limestone cliffs 900 meters high, impressive waterfalls, mysterious caves, and rich wildlife. Look for wild Asian elephants, elusive tigers, sun bears, leopards, Malayan tapirs, gibbons, macaques, hornbills, and more than 300 bird species.
The Cheow Lan Lake, the park’s major attraction is of emerald-green water dotted with limestone karst formations rising dramatically from the lake, and dead tree trunks protruding from the water. The limestone cliffs form spectacular reflections creating some of Thailand’s most photogenic natural scenery.
The lake is accessible only by boat, with highly recommended overnight stays in floating bungalows providing unique wilderness accommodation on the water.


Take a Long-tail boat guided tour from Khao Sok village across the lake, admiring the spectacular scenery and swim and Kayak between the limestone formations. Hike a jungle trail to a magnificent viewpoint and to an impressive waterfall.
Explore the large and dramatic Nam Ta Lu Cave, and admire the massive chamber, stalagmites and stalactites formations.
Take a night safari seeking nocturnal wildlife, fall asleep in a floating Bungallow to jungle sounds, disconnected from modern life, and wake up within the mist covered lake, to swim in the clear water on your doorstep.

In the area around Khao Sok village numerous jungle lodges, eco-resorts, and guesthouses, from basic bamboo bungalows to upscale eco-resorts.
Note that Floating bungalows booking should be in advance through tour operators or directly at Khao Sok village.
The best time to visit the park is in the dry season of November through to April.
To reach Khao Sok National Park, drive, take a taxi or a bus from Phuket, or participate in a guided tour. Visit the park with overnight stay, part of at least 2 days tour, to fully explore its beauty and attractions.
