A small and charming seaside resort and fishing town in the Turkish Riviera, 178 km southwest of Antalya, and 124 km southeast of Fethiye. Originally Kas was the Lycian’s Antiphellos which its ruins and amphitheater blends with the modern buildings.
Kas beautiful cobbled narrow streets and the waterfront are full of vibrant cafes, live music bars and restaurants. Stroll the streets around the bazar area, and window shop the small shops, the boutiques and designer shops selling handmade products, such as jewelry, carpets, and leather goods.
The long bazaar is very lively and colorful, full of local products and nice souvenirs to bring home. While in the bazar explore the 4th century King’s Tomb, its inscription, and depiction of a man, two women and two lions. Kas is surrounded by small and pebbled picturesque beaches, including the famous Kaputas beach in town. Popular Outdoor sport activities include Water Sports and Sea Kayaking, Mountain Biking, Hiking the Lycian Way, Diving, Yachting, and Paragliding from the Kirdavli Peak or Asas Mountain.
The town has a new modern Marina, with the required facilities for short and long Yacht docking. Kas is considered the best place in Turkey for scuba diving with its 50 diving sites including caves, canyons, wrecks, and the famous Sunken City of Kekova, few hours sailing from Kas. There are more than 15 dive centres and schools, mostly located at the town’s port.
The town offers unique diving to an underwater sculpture of a shark, a submerged Douglas DC-3 plane, a cargo ship, and six artificial wrecks submerged to create artificial reefs and unique diving spots. When in Kas, take a day tour by boat to the Greek Island of Kastelorozo (Meis), sail to the Kekova peninsula and explore Kekova island, Üçağız, Kaleköy and the sunken cities, or visit Patara ruins and find a secluded spot on its long Patara beach.
