• Jim Thompson House

One of Bangkok’s most beloved attractions is a complex of six traditional Thai houses assembled and restored by American businessman Jim Thompson, who revived the Thai silk industry after World War II. The houses, dating from the 17th to 19th centuries, were relocated from various sites in Bangkok and Ayutthaya and re-assembled on a canal in the Siam area. In the beautifully furnished houses’ rooms, extraordinary collection of Asian art and antiques, Chinese porcelain, Burmese carvings, Cambodian statues, Thai paintings, and more. The surrounding garden, shaded by mature trees above the canal, is a remarkable oasis of calm in central Bangkok.
Guided tours of the house are available. A visit to the Jim Thompson House can be combined with the nearby National Stadium area and Siam Square.
