• Jerez de la Frontera

A lovely town 90 km south of Seville on the way to Cadiz. Stroll the old town narrow streets and relax with great Tapas dishes at Plaza De La Asuncion.
While in the square enjoy the view of the two most beautiful buildings of Jerez, the 16th century Renaissance Antiguo Cabildo, the former town hall, and the 15th century Iglesia Dionisio with its Gothic-Mudejar exterior and 18th century Baroque interior. Visit the 11th century Alcazar Fortress, its defensive walls and watchtowers, the onsite mosque and the Arabic baths building, and continue to the Jerez 18th century San Salvador Cathedral.
To absorb some local culture visit the Andalusian Centre of Flamenco, a Museum located within a beautiful 15th century mansion, presenting artworks by local artists and the flamenco traditions of Jerez and Andalusia. Jerez is the heart of Andalusian horse culture. Visit the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art and enjoy the fantastic equestrian horse’s dance.
Be sure to visit one of the famous wine cellars (Bodega) of the town’s famous Sherry and Brandy, such as Tio Pepe Bodegas or Bodegas Tradición, learning about the production process while enjoying the great tastes. In the evening celebrate with a Flamenco show at a local tapas bar.
In May try to visit the town during the one-week celebrations of the Feria del Caballo – the Horse Fair, when traditional riders parade the magnificent horses around the fairground, and several bullfights are held in town.
