Named after the small village of Hope, the valley stretches in the East Midlands between the Dark Peak edges and the Moorland in the Pennies, along the White Peak and the Dales.

The Winnats Pass, east of Castleton, is the western entrance to the valley, running along limestone cliffs and old lead mines.

North of the valley there is a very popular hiking trail between Mam Tor and the Lose Hill, leading down to Hope Village with beautiful landscapes of the valley and countryside.
There are few recommended hiking trails in and around the valley. For more information consult with the Visitor’s Center in Edale, Castleton, or in Bamford.

The valley and its surroundings are home to numerous creeks, streams, and rivers, with the major ones being the Peak Water, River Noe, and the River Derwent. River Derwent is the source of some water reservoirs which are nice to visit.

Once in the valley you will be able to enjoy various outdoor activities in addition to the beautiful landscapes including hiking, bicycling, gliding from Mam Tor, caving at the Titan Cave and the Bagshawe Cavern, and much more.

Spend 1-4 days in the Hope Valley, visiting its magnificent attractions and engaging in some great outdoor activities the valley has to offer.
