• Gran Paradiso National Park

Gran Paradiso National Park is part of the Italian Alps, near the town of Aosta.

With glaciers, lakes, rivers and high mountain, historical architectural and cultural sites, the park is considered one of the most popular parks in Italy.

The 4 km meter high Gran Paradiso mountain is the symbol of the park, and together with the 4,000 Ibex’s grazing during the summer, 100 species of birds and more than 1,000 native trees and plants, makes the park a great place to visit and enjoy for nature lovers.

The Paradisia Alpine Botanical Garden is a nature preserve and botanical garden located at an altitude of 1,700 meters in Valnontey, Cogne. The garden and its 1,000 species of native and worldwide plants is open daily for visitors during the warmer months.

In the park more than 500 km of hiking trails network, for both summer and winter, ranging for all levels of difficulty and durations.
Guided 2-3 days climbing hikes to Gran Paradiso Mountain peak are offered all year.

In summer white water rafting excursions of 1-3 hours are popular activity at the park’s many rivers.
A canyon adventure park, the only one in Italy, is available with the “Gordze du Terre” course including 1-3 hours of various adventurous activities.

The park has over 80 km cross country ski trails and 5 ski resorts with 21 km slopes.

There are few agriculture farms in the park offering tours, food, and wine tastings. Wineries such as Costantino Charrere and Fernanda Saraillon, and the Fontina DOP cheese producer, Amedeo Blanch, can be visited at Aymavilles.

Five hunting lodges at various altitudes are offered at Dondena, Nivolet, Lauson Ilex, Orvieille and Gran Piano, connected with 344 km of historic mule hunting tracks.
There are few additional accommodation opportunities in the park including hotels, B&Bs, Farmhouses, Camps and more.

The park can be easily reached from Aosta (14 km), Torino (70 km), Milan (150 km) and the French Chamonix (50 km).
To enter the park use the roads from Aymavilles, Introd, Ronco Canavese and Locana.
Visitor centers are available at Cogne, Dagios, Chanavey, Ronco Canavese, Locana and more.
