It’s a large 18th century fortress built to control the Scottish Highlands and remained in continuous use as a garrison, located 20 km northeast of Inverness near Ardersier. Visit the historic barrack rooms, explore the grand magazine with its superb collection of weapons, or look out from the ramparts for dolphins hunting and playing off the shore.

In the fortress the Highlanders’ Museum, the official regimental museum of the Queen’s Own Highlanders and Lovat Scouts. The exhibits which tell the story of the highland regiments for the past 250 years include uniforms, weapons, medals, WW1 memorial plaques, and more.
