• Doi Inthanon National Park

Doi Inthanon National Park is northern Thailand’s premier natural destination, 90 km southwest of Chiang Mai, offering a landscape of mist-wrapped peaks, powerful waterfalls, Karen and Hmong hill tribe villages, cloud and tropical forest, and vast population of more than 300 bird species.
The park is best visited as a full-day trip from Chiang Mai or as an overnight stay at park bungalows or nearby resorts. The best time to visit is November-February for clear skies and cool temperatures.

Royal Pagoda
The King’s and Queen’s royal Pagodas and stupas standing below the summit and surrounded by spectacular formal gardens and offering panoramic mountain views.

Hill Tribe Villages
Several Karen and Hmong villages within the park offer cultural experiences and handicraft items sales. The villages maintain traditional agricultural practices including terraced rice farming and temperate vegetable cultivation.
Visits should be arranged through the park or tour operators.

The park Waterfalls

  • Mae Ya Waterfall
    A 260 meters high spectacular waterfall, plunging in a broad curtain through multi-layered tiers into a pool surrounded by forest. The waterfall is most impressive during and immediately after the rainy season of July-November.
    The waterfall is a 15-minute walk from the road.
  • Wachirathan Waterfall
    A powerful 80 meters high waterfall creating perpetual mist and rainbows at its base. The waterfall is easily accessed from the main park road.
  • Sirithan Waterfall
    A beautiful waterfall cascades requiring a moderate hike through forest.

Nature Trails

  • Pha Dok Siao Trail
    A well-maintained 2.8 km, 1-2 hours, loop trail through cloud covered forest and rhododendron groves near the summit. The trail is Excellent for birdwatching.
  • Kew Mae Pan Nature Trail
    A stunning 3 km ridge trail at 2,200 meters height offering spectacular mountain views, flower meadows, and sunrise/sunset opportunities.
    The trail is open in December-May and requires a local guide.

Brichinda Cave
A limestone cave system near the park headquarters with stalagmites, stalactites, and underground streams.
