• Diving in Koh Lanta

Koh Lanta is Krabi’s premier diving location with access to the region’s best dive sites
1-2 hour boat journey away. Numerous dive shops operate from Long Beach and other west coast beaches offering day trips, liveaboards, and PADI certification courses.
Koh Lanta’s beaches offer moderate snorkeling conditions, but the best sites require boat trips to nearby islands, such as Koh Rok, Koh Haa, and others.
The best diving and snorkeling conditions are on the November-April season.
The Major dive sites are:

  • Hin Daeng, Red Rock, and Hin Muang, Purple Rock
These are submerged pinnacles, 1.5 hours south of Lanta by speedboat, considered among Thailand’s best dive sites.
The pinnacles rise from 60 meter depths to within 5 meters of the surface, creating walls covered in soft and hard corals, attracting large pelagic species including manta rays, seasonal whale sharks, and schools of barracuda and trevally. These are advanced dive sites unsuitable for beginners due to the currents and depths.
  • Koh Haa
A cluster of five limestone islands, 1 hour west of Lanta, offering excellent diving for all levels in a protected environment. The islands feature underwater caverns, swim-throughs, healthy coral reefs, abundant reef fish, and good visibility. The Koh Haa Lagoon is popular for its cathedral-like underwater chamber illuminated by light shafts. The site is suitable for open water certified divers and above.
  • King Cruiser Wreck
The wreck is of a passenger ferry that sank in 1997 near Phi Phi, now resting at 10-30 meter depth and colonized by marine life. The site is for experienced divers, good fish populations, and occasionally strong currents.
