• De Haar Castle

Considered the largest in the Netherlands, with origins in the 14th century, the castle which resembles Medieval fortress with towers and ramparts, was rebuilt and restored at the end of the 19th century. The castle displays the aristocratic splendor of the early 20th century, with its richly decorated interior, magnificent artworks, antique furniture, and other items from the Rothschild collections.
Located 20 km west of Utrecht, only few of the castle 200 rooms are open to the public but still enough to be considered one of 20 leading museums in the Netherlands. Admire the ornamented woodcarving, and the Flemish tapestries and paintings with religious illustrations. One of the main items in the castle is a Japanese coach, one of two worldwide.
Enjoy the castle park with its numerous water features and the formal garden design based on the French gardens of the Versailles Palace.
