• Chateau Villandry

A beautiful family owned Renaissance palace famous for its overwhelming gardens, near the village of Villandry 15 km West of Tours. Originally built in the 12th century, the current highly popular palace is from the 16th century and the interior is from the 18th century. In the palace beautiful Renaissance decorations, period furniture and artworks, and a beautiful collection of old Spanish paintings.
But the main attraction is the famous formal palace gardens which include four terraces, paths lined with linden trees, overwhelming colored flower beds and a maze. Also part of the palace gardens six different gardens including a water garden, ornamental flower gardens, and vegetable gardens, all laid out in formal patterns created with low box hedges.
