A 17th century private Baroque palace in the Loire Valley, 16 km southeast of Blois. The palace is one of the most popular attractions in the valley, known for its magnificent interior and the reflection of the palace’ real life in the past centuries. Enjoy the rich decorations including 17th century Flanders and Parisian Gobelin tapestry, magnificent 17th – 19th centuries furniture, numerous paintings and portraits, sculptures, and many splendid artworks. Visit the beautifully decorated King’s Chamber, and the dining room with the story of Don Quixote beautifully painted on wooden panels and the Flemish tapestries.
Explore the Staircase of Honor decorated with country sculptures and warriors’ motives, the Grand living room, the portraits gallery, the Weapons room with its collection of 16th and 17th centuries arms and armor, and more. In the Marlinspike Hall enjoy the permanent exhibition of Herge’s famous comics where you will experience Tintin and his friends universe.
The palace is surrounded by a beautiful park including trees, vast green lawns and flower beds, three different gardens, a Maze and a forest, all to be explored with electric cars and boats. Also part of the Palace grounds are kennels, home to 100 hunting dogs whose feeding can be watched. Children can take part in a mystery game held in the palace where they would need to decode a secret message related to the palace.
