• Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top Farm

Beatrix Potter’s carefully preserved 17th century cottage which inspired many of her tales, 3 km southeast of Hawkshead village in the tiny village of Near Sawrey. In the house many of the items and letters collected by the author, period furniture, and reproduced decorations and items presenting the way they were when Beatrix lived here. In 1909 Beatrix Potter bought Castle Farm opposite Hill Top, which became her main home in the area.
