• Kos Beaches

There are more than 100 km of coastline and more than 20 beautiful sandy beaches and resorts, spread along both the eastern and western coastline from south to north. There are numerous beaches that offers all the required beach facilities, are family friendly and have watersports centers and more. It is quite clear why the great beaches are a major reason for Kos’s island’ popularity as a summer vacation destination. The most popular beach resort in the island is the cosmopolitan village of Kardamena, on the eastern coast, 6 km east of Kos airport, with its beautiful beaches, hotels, cafes, and restaurants.

Other popular beaches are in and around Kos town on the island’s northern region, such as Paradiso Beach, Psalidi Beach, and Agios Fokas Beach, all have water sports centers and are great for wind surfing. In Psalidi Beach and in Kos harbor few diving clubs offering diving excursions to uninhabited islets, reefs, shipwrecks and underwater caves. Northwest of town there are two nice beaches and resorts, Mylos and Lambi Beach, offering all the required beach facilities.

In the west, the coast which stretches between Tigaki, 11 km southwest of Kos, and Marmari through to Mastihari, has highly popular beaches, offering all the required facilities, cafes and restaurants, are great for families, and are the best for windsurfing and kitesurfing.

Another great area for water sports is the island’s southern area around Agios Stefanos Beach and resort, 35 km south of Kos town. You can take a boat from the beautiful sandy and pebbled beach of Agios Stefanos to the picturesque islet of Kastri, and explore the church of Agios Nicolaos, and the ruins of 4th century Christian basilicas.

North to Agios Stefanos you will find quitter beaches such as Camel Beach, Markos, and the secluded and partially organized Lagades Beach. The nice and popular Kefalso Beach resort, 2 km southwest of Agios Stefanos, offers all the beach facilities, cafes, restaurants, and a windsurfing center.

On the island’s southern tip relax and enjoy the beautiful and somehow secluded Paralia Paradisos Cove, which offers some facilities and a water sports center, and in the remote Agios Theologos Beach, a large shallow beach offering great sunsets.
