• Bang Krachao

Bang Krachao is a large green peninsula formed by a loop of the Chao Phraya River in the Phra Pradaeng area, across the river from Bangkok’s port district. Despite being only minutes from the city by river ferry, the peninsula has a rural landscape of orchards, community gardens, mangrove forests, cycling paths, and quiet villages where life moves at a pace utterly different from urban Bangkok. In the peninsula a large and beautifully maintained public garden, Sri Nakhon Khuean Khan Park and Botanical Garden, with tropical plant collections, walking paths, and elevated walkways through mangrove forest.
Explore the peninsula by bicycle which can be rented near the Bang Nam Phueng Pier where the ferry arrives. Cycling through the lanes of Bang Krachao passing wooden houses on stilts, local temples, community orchards, and the Bang Nam Phueng Market on weekends, is a highly rewarding half day experience.
