• Askja Volcano

Askja Volcano is a vast caldera remotely located in the easterly highlands of Iceland, 150 km south of Lake Myvatn. Within the caldera admire the 220 meters deep Oskjuvatn crystalline lake. Near the Oskjuvatn lake visit the nearby Viti crater with its green waters’ lake still warm from the geothermal activity, and with the sulfur steam vents along the shore.
On the way to the Askja Volcano you will be overwhelmed with the lunar landscapes of lava fields, and high snowcapped mountains.
To visit Askja Volcano and the Viti Crater we would recommend a 1 day guided tour from Myvatn Lake.
