• Aosta

The capital of the Valle d’Aosta, is about 120 km northeast of Torino, 190 km west of Milan and 130 southeast of Geneva, Switzerland.

The town once called the Rome of the Alps is in the northwest of Italy, in a fertile alpine basin surrounded by the amazing landscapes of high mountains and ice covered peaks.

Aosta has a rich ancient heritage of beautifully preserved Roman architecture including;

  • The 25 BC Roman Arch of Augustus, the town’ icon.
  • The Pretorian Gate, once the eastern entrance to town.
  • The 1st century Roman Bridge over the River Buthier.
  • The Teatro Romano’ 22 meters high facade.

Stroll the charming historic center, between Roman and Medieval architecture, and relax in one of the cafes or restaurants of the central square.

Visit the 11th century Cattedrale Santa Maria Assunta with its Romanesque frescos and Gothic and Renaissance style, the Gothic Complex of Sant’Orso, with its bell tower clock and the Museum of the Treasure, and the ancient convent of the Visitation home to the Regional Archeological Museum.
