• Ao Nang

Ao Nang turned from a quite fishing village to serve as Krabi province’s busiest beach resort town, fulfilling all the tourist’s needs, and as a transportation hub for boat cruises to the nearby and southern islands.
The Ao Nang beach, a 2 km stretch of sand with tranquil water, is framed in its central section by hotels, travel agencies, and the piers from which boats depart daily for island-hopping tours. Along the beach a promenade packed with restaurants, beach bars, tour operators, and shops, lively at all hours and especially after dark when restaurants set out beachfront tables, fire dancers perform, and vibrant energy is in the air. The southern end of the beach, where limestone cliffs begin their dramatic rise, is more attractive than the beach’ developed central section.
Ao Nang’s major attraction is its role as gateway to boat cruises. The pier at the southern end of Ao Nang Beach, at the limestone cliffs base, serves as the departure point for long-tail boats to Railay Peninsula. The boats leave every 30 min. for a 15 min. ride, with the last boats departing around 5-6pm from Railay. Also available are island-hopping excursions, snorkeling trips, and cruises to Koh Phi Phi, the southern Islands, and to other destinations.

A small Night Market operates 5pm-10pm in the northern part of Ao Nang, offering authentic and inexpensive Thai street food and basic souvenirs, to both Thai visitors and tourists.
On the southern end of Ao Nang beach, near the Cliff Beach Resort, a Viewpoint offering magnificent scenery, especially before sunset, of Ao Nang Beach, the surrounding karst cliff formations, and the nearby islands.
Pai Plong Beach, 2 km south of Ao Nang beach, is a popular small and quiet beach cove offering a laid back alternative to the main Ao Nang beach.
Noppharat Thara Beach and resort, 3 km northwest of Ao Nang Beach, offers a quieter, more local atmosphere, and less development infrastructure.

The crowds, the relatively high prices, and the highly popular nearby Railay Peninsula and the beautiful islands, drive tourists to spend only 1-2 days in Ao Nang before they move on to the nearby popular destinations.
