• Ancient Kameiros

An Hellenistic/Roman city founded by the Dorians and destroyed by earthquakes in the 2nd century AD. The site is 3 km west of the village of Kalavarda and 30 km southwest of the town of Rhodes. The ancient town was built with the Acropolis on the top of the hill overlooking the sea, and the settlement itself, the Agora, and additional temples on lower levels. Explore the remains of the temple complex of Athena Kameiros, the stoa with rooms for shops or lodgings, the remains of residential streets, a Doric Temple, and more.
There are several nice hiking trails around the site.
