A day trip to Lake Starnberg also known as Lake Würm, Würmsee, Fürstensee, Germany’s second largest fresh water lake, and a popular recreation area of Germany’s rich and famous, 27 km southwest of Munich. Surrounding the lake are hilly moraine landscape, lakes and the Alpine Mountain ranges in the south. When in the lake area enjoy numerous hiking and cycling trails, including a beautiful 50 km trail along the lake’s circumference, swimming, sailing and rowing.
Take a boat trip or rent a boat for your own pleasure on the lake. The lake beaches are close to the train stations in Tutzing, Possenhofen and Feldafing. Take a boat to the small and romantic Rose Island near the west bank, 7 km south of Starnberg, home to beautiful parks and gardens.
