Mallorca’s capital, in the southern part of the  island, is a pleasure to visit and explore with its beautiful old centre, large and impressive cathedral, palaces, churches, and art museums.

Stroll the medieval narrow cobbled streets of the old centre, Casco Antiguo, and enjoy the galleries and museums, small local shops, cafes and restaurants.
Visit the nearby gothic La Seu cathedral, with its bright colours’ exterior and the modern touches by Barcelona’s famous architect Antonio Gaudi.
Visit the vibrant Plaza Mayor, the Royal Palace, Palau de l’Almudaina, the 11th century Arab Baths (Banys Àrabs) with it’s different bathing chambers, and relax in the Bishop’s Garden, El Jardi del Bisbe, a small and tranquil botanical garden.

Explore the hilltop 14th century Gothic Bellver Castle, built as a royal residence, and enjoy the city’s history museum with its throne room and collection of classical sculptures, and above all the great landscapes of the bay of Palma. Enjoy the new Contemporary Spanish Art Museum and the Joan Miro Museum. Stroll Calle San Miguel one of Palma’s leading shopping street, and the town markets such as the vibrant and colourful Mercado del Olivar.

At night go to La Lonja, Palma’s old fishing quarter famous for its lively night life, numerous restaurants, cafes, bars and clubs lined within its narrow streets.

Palma has a beautiful city beach to enjoy, but if you are looking for a less crowded beach, head to ses Illetes beach 9 km away, or further to enjoy the beaches of Port d’Andratx, Sant Elm or Camp de Mar.
Plan for at least half a day visit in this lively city.
