A 175 km long Mediterranean coastline on the eastern coast of Andalusia, one of the most popular European summer vacation destinations. The coastline is known for its 300 days of sunshine and beautiful blue flag sandy beaches with great facilities.

With its capital in Malaga, Costa del Sol stretches between Nerja 60 km east of Malaga, and Sotogrande 115 km southwest of Malaga near Gibraltar.

There are quit few beautiful towns, villages, and beach resorts along the Costa del Sol coastline.

The major vacation resorts are:

  • Nerja east of Malaga
  • South and southwest of Malaga, from Torremolinos near Malaga, through to Benalmadena home to numerous theme parks, Fuengirola popular with families, the luxuries Marbella, and Estepona in the south.

Costa del Sol towns and villages offers promenades packed with bars clubs and restaurants, vibrant night life scene, excellent shopping opportunities including designer outlets and some of the best shopping malls in Spain.

For a day in the Mediterranean Sea, take a romantic cruise or one to observe Marine life such as Dolphins which are highly common in this part of the Mediterranean. Cruises are available from Malaga and other ports along the coast.

Families with children can enjoy in addition to the beautiful beaches and activities, numerous them parks including the Selwo Marina Park, Sea Life Park, Parque de la Paloma, and the Butterfly Park in Benalmadena. Other attractions include the Bio-Park in Fuengirola, the Torremolinos Aqualand Water Park, and Crocodile Park, and Selwo animal reserve and park north of Estepona.

The Costa del Sol has become one of Spain’s and Europe top golfing destinations, with more than 60 Golf Courses including championship courses.

There are many national parks and nature gems close by to Malaga and Costa del Sol, offering numerous outdoor activities such as hiking, caving, ATV trips, horseback riding, and water sports activities.

  • Take a circular route west to Antequera, El Caminito Del Rey and El Chorro, and Ronda.
  • Another beautiful trip would be a coastal drive of 134 km southwest through Marbella to the famous rock of Gibraltar, and if time allows consider a trip to Tangier and to the exotic port city of Ceuta in Morocco.
  • Further away, a nice 1-3 Day Trip would be to the must see Granada and the Alhambra Palaces
  • South of Granada for some outdoor activities in the Sierra Nevada National Park.
  • Traveling for 1-3 days to the beautiful Seville and Cordoba.
