• Palacio Real la Granja

An 18th century magnificent Baroque palace, 11 km southeast of Segovia and 80 km north of Madrid, in the little town of San Ildefonso. The palace that was designed based on the famous Chateau de Versailles in Paris, France, was the Spanish court’s main summer palace. The palace complex includes the palace itself, the royal chapel, courtyards, and additional buildings all in U shape. The complex is surrounded by magnificent formal French style gardens with 26 impressive fountains and numerous sculptures scattered around the grounds.
In the palace, visit the Throne Room, the Room of Mirrors, and others, to enjoy the Baroque luxurious decorations, beautiful tapestries and frescoes, impressive glass lamps, period furniture, paintings, and sculptures. Outside of the palace in a building named the Old House of the Ladies, visit the Tapestry Museum home to a collection of large Flemish tapestries.
