• Caen Memorial

Memorial de Caen is an impressive war memorial and a museum in the northern part of Caen, built to commemorate the Battle of Normandy during WWII. The building is “fractured” in the middle symbolizing the destruction of the city and the triumph of the allies over the Nazis. The memorial is built on the site of a German command bunker including the original 70 meters bunker tunnel. In the “Museum of Peace” on site various displays, archives, testimonies, and films covering the war and the D-Day events, the French occupation, the Holocaust, and the post-war era of the Cold War.
