• Abbaye Notre Dame de Senanque

A 12th century Cistercian Romanesque abbey, 9 km north of the village of Gordes in the Luberon region in Provence. The abbey is highly famous for its surrounding purple Lavender fields, one of Provence icons. The Lavender is grown by the abbey monks, and it blooms from the end of June to mid-July, the best time to visit and enjoy the sight. In the abbey, stroll through the cloisters with the arcaded galleries, stonework, and gardens, visit the calefactory where the monks used to spend time reading and writing, the vaulted dormitory, the chapter house, and the abbey church.
