A beautiful town at the western entrance to the Amalfi coast region, a one hour drive from Naples and 40 minutes from Pompeii.
Built on a cliff, the town overlooks Mount Vesuvius, the charming little fishing village of Massa Lubrenese, and the harbor below town.

Visit the charming historic center and its main street, Via San Cesareo, and stroll the narrow streets to enjoy magnificent handcraft shops, cafes, and restaurants.
Along the clifftop, visit the villas and the gardens, and go down by steps or lifts down to the beach and harbor.

Visit the beautiful 11th century Cathedral of Sorrento, the Church of San Francesco d’Assisi and the museum of Bottega della Tarsialignea with its woodcarving artifacts on display.
The town is surrounded by Lemon and Olive groves and is known for its Limoncello production.

Spend at least a day in this lovely town the western gateway to the Amalfi coast.
From Naples, arrive by car, the local Circumvesuviana train, or by ferry.

You can take a ferry from here to Capri and Ischia, and by car or a bus (or ferry) via the narrow and highly scenic Amalfi Drive, to the coastal towns of Positano and Amalfi.
