• Baia

A unique archeological site of an ancient Roman town on the northwestern coast of the bay of Naples. The town was a luxurious resort for the Roman “super rich” who built luxurious villas here during the Roman Republic era, 100 BC to 500 AD. The ruins of many impressive buildings can be seen in the Parco Archeologico delle Terme di Baia.

The lower part of town was submerged in the sea due to local volcanic activity. Recent underwater archaeology has revealed many of the fine buildings and other structures which are protected in the underwater archaeological park. Sculptures and other artifacts revealed underwater are in display in the town’s archaeological museum, the Museo Archeologico dei Campi Flegrei, Phlegraean Fields Archaeological Museum. A very special and unique attraction is to explore the underwater archeological findings from a boat or while snorkeling.
