Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli in Palazzo degli Studi is considered one of the best archeological museums in the world for ancient Roman remains. The museum’s main exhibits present artifacts uncovered in Pompeii, Herculaneum, and Stabiae. Also In the museum, classical sculptures’ collection from Farnese Marbles including Roman copies of classical Greek sculptures, Roman bronze items from the Villa of the Papyri, and a Mosaic Collection.
The Mosaic items were recovered from the ruins of Pompeii and the other Vesuvian effected cities. The Egyptian Collection of 2,500 objects represent the Egyptian civilization from the Old Kingdom (2700-2200 B.C.) to the Ptolemaic-Roman era. In the “Secret Room” a large collection of erotic and sexual items mostly from Pompeii and Herculaneum. Note that visitors to this exhibition under the age of 14 should be accompanied by an adult.
