• Trip 8 – Cortina d’Ampezzo Surroundings

This trip in the eastern Dolomites includes some of the most famous attractions of the mountain Range, the Three Peaks of Lavaredo, Braise Lake and more.

Spend at least one day for the highlight attractions and consider hiking some of the amazing trails in the area for additional 1-2 days.

East of Cortina d’Ampezzo

Lago di Sorapis
An amazing lake on the foot of the Sorpriss Mountain. Consider hiking a nice 6 km trail (Mid Level), 2 hours one way, between the mountain peaks starting at the parking lot on SR48.

Three Peaks of Lavaredo
A famous Dolomites site of three massive stone tower shape cliffs part of the nature park of the same name. Access is via SP49 to the Misurina lake with its incredible panoramic scenery and from there continue to Antorno lake, and to the Auronzo Car Park near Refugio Auronzo. It’s a half an hour hike from the car park to the cliffs. You can continue hiking in the nature park enjoying great landscapes and small lakes, to Malga Langalm and to the Rifugio Antonio Locatelli, a total of 12 km.

FunBob Amusement Park
A park including mountain sleds for the whole family, at Auronzo 35 km east of Cortina d’Ampezzo.

North of Cortina d’Ampezzo

Fanes Waterfalls
Cascate di Fanes is 9 km north of Cortina d’Ampezzo surrounded by beautiful landscapes both natural and rural, between forests, mountain peaks, water springs and waterfalls. The 4 km round trip trail to the waterfalls is suitable for families with children. Access is via Valle di Fanes road (off SS51) from Spiaggia Verde Cortina d’Ampezzo’ tourist site.

Dobbiaco Lake
A nice lake 3 km south of Dobbiaco on SS51, with water sport activities, perfect for children.

Lago di Braies
The most famous lake of the Dolomites, with magnificent and special scenery of the lake and its surrounding. Access is from SS49, 15 km west of Dobbiace and one hour north of Cortina d’Ampezzo.
