  • The Borromean Islands in Lake Maggiore between Stresa and Verbania are a must-see and the main attractions when visiting the lake. In the islands fabulous palaces and enchanting gardens built during Italy’s Romantic Age. The archipelago is named after the Borromean family, the owners of the islands since the 14th century.
    There are five islands in the archipelago of which three can be visited;

    • Isola Bella
    • Isola Madra
    • The small Isola dei Pescatori

     

    Take a one day tour to visit the islands using public or private ferries running from Stresa, Verbania and other towns around the lake.
