• Phu Chi Fa

Phu Chi Fa is a cliff-edge mountaintop at 1,628 meters elevation on the Thai-Laos border, offering panoramic sunrise views across forested mountains. On clear mornings, a sea of mist fills the valleys while mountain peaks emerge like islands, a sight that has made Phu Chi Fa one of northern Thailand’s most sought-after sunrise destinations.
To reach the viewpoint, 120 km northeast of Chiang Rai, depart Chiang Rai by 3-4 am to reach the viewpoint before sunrise, or stay overnight in nearby villages or camping at the site. From the car park hike a moderate trail for 30 minutes.
Combine the visit in the viewpoint with a visit to the Chinese Yunnanese village of Doi Mae Salong.
