• Bo Sang Umbrella Village

Bo Sang village has specialized for over 200 years in the production of hand-painted sa paper umbrellas with intricate floral and animal designs. The umbrellas made of mulberry bark paper stretched over bamboo frames are recognized by their vibrant colors and traditional designs. The village is 9 km east of Chiang Mai on the road to San Kamphaeng. In the village’s main road watch craftspeople demonstrate the complete production process from paper-making through painting, to finished umbrella.
During January the village hosts an annual Bo Sang Umbrella Festival featuring parades and cultural performances.
