• Funchal Cable Cars

There are two cable cars in Funchal both highly popular attractions offering breathtaking views of the city, and the surrounding valleys and forests. Consider combining both cable cars’ rides and the toboggan sledge ride, while visiting both gardens, for a great half day experience.

  • The main Funchal Cable Car, Teleferico do Funchal, connects Funchal to the town of Monte and the magnificent Monte Palace Tropical Gardens high on the mountain, through a 3.2 km 18 minutes ride.
  • Returning to Funchal consider taking the exciting and “stressful” Funchal’s Toboggan Basket Sledge, Carros de Cestos, back to the city.

The Botanical Gardens Cable Car, Teleferico do Jardim Botanico, connects the Funchal Botanical Gardens with the town of Monte, via a 9 minutes ride.
