    The subtropical rainforest is ~20 million years old making it a ‘living fossil’ which presents a vast
    ecosystem with diversified fauna and flora, offering numerous trails and ‘levadas’ that crosses the
    forest while leading rainwater down hill to the lower parts of the island.
