• The Sanctuary of Fatima

The Santuario de Fatima, formally the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima, is a Marian sanctuary and a major Catholic pilgrimage site, built in the early 20th century. The sanctuary is in the city of Fatima, 125 km north of Lisbon.
The highly popular pilgrimage site, visited by Millions of visitors each year, was built following the Virgin Mary appearance to three shepherd children. Part of the sanctuary are the Basilica of the Holy Trinity, one of the largest Catholic Churches in the world, the Baroque Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary, and the Chapel of the Apparitions.
Being one of the most important Marian sanctuaries in the world and a major  international destination for religious tourism, the site received three papal golden roses, and was visited by 4 Popes in the 1967- 2017 time period.
There are numerous pilgrim’s attractions in the site in addition to shopping opportunities, restaurants, and accommodation facilities.
The May 12 and May13th are the main celebrations days in the Sanctuary of Fatima with some of the pilgrims are making the journey on foot following the four marked rural Fatima Ways.
Visiting the site enjoy beside the churches, the Museum of Sacred Art and Ethnology, the Wax Museum, the Fatima Museum and the Animated Nativity Scene and Village of Bethlehem.
