A highly popular Beach Resort with easy and quick access from Lisbon, 33 km east of town. Cascais is a lively and cosmopolitan coastal town offering beautiful sandy beaches with calm waters and good facilities, and excellent hotels.
Between sunbathing, swimming, and water sports in the beach, stroll the narrow cobbled streets of the charming old town, admire the aristocratic 19th century mansions, window shop the high-end shops, and enjoy the numerous cafes and restaurants.

  1. Visit Condes de Castro Guimaraes Museum, Cascais’ iconic fairytale building, home to a collection of Indo-Portuguese furniture, paintings, sculptures, ceramics, and more, a large Neo Gothic library, and a cloister decorated with Moorish tiles panels.
  2. The Paula Rego Museum presenting the famous Portugues painter works.
  3. Santa Marta Lighthouse and Museum offering beautiful scenery of the town and the Atlantic coast.
  4. Casa de Santa Maria, designed as an example of a Portuguese home with its decorative elements, Baroque tile panels, and other artworks inspired by Portuguese art and culture.
  5. In the Cascais Citadel enjoy the 16th century fortified complex, partly an hotel and partly a palace and art galleries.
  6. Visit The highly popular Boca do Inferno sea inlet, surrounded by steep rocks and caves forged by the crashing waves.
  7. The sea cape Cabo da Roca, 16 km northwest of Cascais on the way to Sintra, where you will admire the magnificent scenery with the nearby wild and beautiful Praia da Ursa and Praira da Aroeira beaches.

Cascais Beaches are partly in the town’s sheltered bay, being calm and great for families, and others outside of town are wild and secluded. All Cascais beaches have all the required facilities, and those in town have excellent hotels by the sea.

  • The picturesque Praia do Tamariz with its bars and night life activity.
  • The small and beautiful beach of Santa Marta.
  • Guincho Beach, 6 km northwest of the town center, and Carcavelos Beach, 10 km east of town, have excellent conditions for surfing and windsurfing.
