• The Carmo Church

The Igreja do Carmo is a Late Baroque and Rococo 18th century church of the order of Carmel, famous for its exterior right side wall covered with grand blue and white tiles’ mural. The mural, dated to the 20th century, depicts scenes related to the founding of the Carmelite Order. Inside the church numerous paintings, sculptures, and beautiful gilded carvings on the side chapels and the main altar.
The church is adjacent to the Carmelite Church with only a narrow residence building between them. The church is near Praca de Carlos Alberto and Rua do Carmo, and the Clerigos Church and Tower.
