• Chiado District

Elegant and cosmopolitan on one hand and bohemian on the other, Chiado is the shopping district of Lisbon with a mix of international brands stores, fashion boutiques, design stores, and authentic traditional shops. The two main streets in the neighbourhood, with most of their buildings from the 18th century, are Rue Carmo where the 14th century Carmo Convent ruins are located, and Rua Garrett with the high end Aramazens do Chiado mall and the 18th century Bertrand Bookstore, the oldest in the world.
At the top of the hill, Praça Luis de Camoes square separates Chiado with the Bairro Alto District, where you will also find the Calcada do Duque scenic staircase, home to restaurants overlooking the beautiful view of the castle.
Enjoy the fine dining restaurants, the fancy cafes, and a traditional Fado show, before you continue your night hangout in the Bairo Alto, the Upper Neighbourhood, District.
Reach Chiado using #28 Tram, the Santa Justa Lift, by walking up Rua do Carmo from Rossio Square, or by taking the metro to Baixa-Chiado station.
