• Chrissi Island

A very small, remote and uninhabited island, 15 km south of the Crete Coast in Lerapetra, which in turn is 31 km south of Agios Nikolaos. It is the sandy beaches, the clear water and the tranquility that attracts tourists for a one day of sun tanning, swimming, snorkeling, and diving. On the island you will find a harbor and a tavern on the southeastern side, a small 13th century chapel of Saint Nicholas on the northwest side, and the best beaches and a small bar on the northern side. The island is part of Nature Protected Islands Program, and it is a wildlife refuge for many local plants and animals.
Note that the boat cruise from Lerapetra takes one hour, leaving in the morning and returning in the evening. If you plan to spend the night on the island, which is allowed, be sure to have a tent and to bring with you drinking water. Umbrellas and launchers are found only in the northern Chatzivolakas beach.
